Burned-P.C. & Kristin Cast

Last. Blog entry. Ever:

I love the House of Night series, and in the 7th book, this one, Zoey's stuck in the Otherworld because her soul's been shattered. Stevie Rae summon the white bull with Earth, not knowing that the white bull is Darkness, not Light like the black bull. The white bull gives her the info for the price of blood, and Rephaim takes it for her and she calls the black bull and he saves them for the price of her being tied to Rephaim's humanity, though he's a Raven Mocker. Stevie Rae gives the info to Aphrodite and she relays it to Stark. Stark goes to the Isle of Women to become uncivilized and goes to the Otherworld to save Zoey. He has to make Heath move on, Zoey to pull her soul together so she's not a restless not-dead-but-not-alive thing, and to defeat Kalona. The ending's pretty good, so I will not spoil it.

Liked it though most of it was in 3rd person, the next book is Awakened.

~*Haley* Good bye all those who even glanced at this.

Here are the next few books I was planning to read. I give up on this blog, it's not worth it.

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner

Bree Tanner is a newborn vampire, one that was in the book Eclipse. Basically she lives with a bunch of other newborn who are lead by Riley. She makes friends with Diego, finds out that vampires don't burn in the sun like Riley's told them. She hangs around by Freaky Fred who has the ability to make everyone repulsed by him. Riley leads them into a battle against their creator's enemies. Then the rest is really the chapter called Mirror from Eclipse.
This book has no chapters and is 178 pages long, hence the term "novella."

Later on Black Cross finds out what Bianca is because Raquel caught Bianca drinking Lucas's blood. They take her and Lucas in a van to be studied somewhere, and Dana, another hunter who saw Bianca drinking from Lucas, helps them get away. Bianca and Lucas go to Philadelphia and get a hotel and get cleaned up and then meet with Vic. Vic let's them stay in his wine cellar while his family takes him and Ranulf to Tuscany. Vic already knows that Ranulf is a vampire and well as the other Evernight students including Bianca.
Bianca becoming sick and losing her taste for blood and food and she's dying because it was her destiny to become a Wraith. The only other choice besides full vampire.
It was a pretty good book, I admit. This series gets more and more interesting. This was tyhe 3rd Evernight book. I recommend it.

The Enchanted Quest-Frewin Jones

This is the 5th book of the Faerie Path. Tania, Rathina and Conner take a boat from Faerie to Alba. They get caught by pirates or the way. Tania and Rathina escape into the Mortal Realm, accidentally leaving Conner behind, but later go back and save him. Conner made a deal with the pirates. They take horses through Alba to a castle of where Queen Titiana was from. They are welcome there, but find that Edric is there. Tania's not too happy about it. Edric's still using the Dark Arts. Edric comes with them into the land of Erin, where enchantments have gone wild. It's kinda of crazy like Wonderland. The Green Lady there steal Edric from Tania and she finds out what she has to do to get him back: go through 2 ordeals. She also found out how to get to Tirnanog, or at least somewhat because it's "beyond the end of the world." At the ocean, they have a run in with the pirates and secrets are revealed as Tania faces the foe.

Leviathan-Thomas E. Sniegoski

18-year-old Aaron Corbet, his dog Gabriel and an angel name Camael are on the road to save Aaron's foster brother, Stevie. Camael thinks that they will find Aerie, a haven for fallen angels. They end up in a small town after an attack by Orishas. They find a vet for Gabriel who was bitten. Camael kind of disappears. Aaron ends up staying in town a few day, rooming at a old lady's house and working for the vet's office like he did back in Lynn.
This town has some really strange things going on, like mutated animals and people. It's because of Leviathan, an ancient chaos being. Aaron must fight it, he saves the angel Gabriel and he discovers that he's a messenger of God.
I like this series, they also had a shorter series in 4 part on ABC Family, and at Red Box rentals. I like the dog Gabriel because since Aaron can speak to animals, he can understand Gabriel. Gabriel's become more intelligent since Aaron healed him in the 1st book.

With a great confrontation and conflict that I will not spoil, I suggest you read this book for yourself!

It was really good. I love the reapers-angels theme. It’s pretty sweet! A fast read!

Ballad-Maggie Stiefvater

James Morgan and his friend Deirdre start school at Thornking-Ash, a boarding school for the musically talented. James is a piper, he plays the bag pipes. He's the best piper in the state.
When James meets Nuala (so she calls herself), a leanan sidhe (lan-an-shee), he finds that he feels more creative when she's around. She's basically a muse-faery.
James and her are getting to know each other and he's still in love with Dee, but he's warming up to Nuala and falling in love later. When he's not cracking jokes, he's getting into trouble or dealing with fey...okay, not exactly, but something like that. Nuala know she has to burn on Halloween in order to live, so she's not sure weather she needs to steal years from James or not, so she resists her urge to do so. James is working on a short play about a magician, called Ballad. He's letting Nuala direct it. Though she cannot create, she's always dreamed to direct and she's very good a inspiring his actors to do well.
Dee is later kidnapped and she's going to be used to make the faerie queen, Eleanor's consort the king of the dead. Nuala wants to be human. James lets her burn in the bonfire and says her true name seven times...but he has to go save Dee. I really can't tell you the rest. Just know that with James being the main character this time, it was so freakin' funny, I couldn't stop laughing. I seriously recommend this book. It only took me 2 day to read it though it's 352 pages long.

The Tear Collector-Patrick Jones

Cassandra Grey and her family feeds off of human sorrow, not causing it directly. She's basically like a vampire that thirts for tears instead of blood. She's a heart breaker, breaking up with boys such as Cody and making them cry. She volunteers and a hospital and is a peer concealer. She's always a shoulder to cry on.
When her best friend commits suicide, she comfort her friend's family. She also tries to make friends with a goth girl, Samantha and she's becoming the girlfriend of Samantha ex, Scott. She's starting to have feelings for Scott and that's not her nature. She shouldn't be able to fall in love.
At the family reunion, Alexei, her promised mate, is there. He's evil and picks up Cass's cell when Scott calls and tells him lies.
Later on he kidnaps Scott and tortures him like he did to many little boys. Cass tells Samantha what she is and they go rescue Scott. Scott is near death and Cass will risk everything, even exile, to save him. She's falling in love and she just might become human.
This book was pretty good! I live vampire book, the only problem with this one it that Cass was pretty fake, always trying to make people let out their tears and wiping them with a handkerchief.

The Reckoning-Michael Carroll

The is the 3rd Quantum Prophecy book. Danny and Colin are super humans and sons of legendary superheroes. Quantum was Danny's father, and Energy and Titan were Colin's mother and father. Now Colin ran away from Sakkara, a special government agency. The Trutopians (now secretly ran by Victor Cross) try to get Colin on their side with some bribes. It's really hard to remember every detail:
-Stephenie, one of Paragon's (the non-superhuman superhero) twin daughters, is now renamed Erica in the witness protection program. She's ends up having to train some kid in Indiana that wants to help and be a superhero. She's gonna take-over her dead father's role.
-Colin is being controlled by Yvonne, a super smart and strong mind-controlling girl.
-Danny is still dealing with having only a left arm.
-Mina, Yvonne's sis, wakes up and Yvonne is controlling her.
-Colin rescues some slaves in a platinum mine.
-I forgot to mention Diamond aka Renata Soliz. She can turn into a solid crystal form, and she's strong. Danny likes her.
-Butler is a guy who can make forcefields.
That's all I remember. I recommend this to those who like superhero stuff.

Liar-Justine Larbalestier

Micah is a compulsive liar. She lies about everything...well almost everything. When her kinda-boyfriend, Zach, dies, Micah's lies catch up to her and rumors spread. She's not only a suspect, but she was also dating a guy who already had a girl friend.
This book is a bit of a puzzle. The chapters are mainly titled BEFORE or AFTER. There's some pretty interesting stuff in it. Micah's a werewolf, which would be easy to figure out if you read the tags to this book and the first bit about her being born with a light coating of fur.
Micah is half black, half white. She lives in New York City. She like biology. Her grandma and great-aunt called the "Greats" live upstate on a farm with her cousins, some of who are wolves too. They live without modern technology and Micah doesn't want to go there. I'm afraid if I spoil anymore I will ruin the mystery, but I'll just say that this book will catch your interest, flipping the pages for you. A non-stop mystery-thriller! The author, She's married to Scott Westerfeld. She wrote the Magic or Madness trilogy that I loved!

Stargazer-Claudia Gray

This is the second Evernight book. Bianca starts the new school year without Lucas and Vic gives her a letter from Lucas saying to meet him is Amherst in October. She runs into another vampire there, a young girl who later turns out to be Charity, Balthazar's sister who he made a vampire way back when. Lucas was hunter her and thinks she's part of a gang. Later on Bianca and Balthazar strike a deal that he will help her meet Lucas from time to time if they help him get his sister back. They make an arrangement to pretend to be dating. Meanwhile, ghost of "wraith" activity has been going on at Evernight and when it does things seem to frost over, ice crystals everywhere. The wraiths are after Bianca, her parents have kept a secret from her-that her parents made a deal that their child would become a wraith instead of a vampire in exchange for the wraiths' help to conceive the child. Bianca's love and life are both on a thin line.
Overall, I liked this book. It was much easier to read after having read the first. I like Balthazar better than Lucas, I think. Balth's more charming.

Biker Girl-Misako Rocks!

I actually met the Artist/Author of this manga at ACEN. She was really nice and like my artwork when I showed it to her at the drawing workshop.
Biker Girl was her 1st graphic novel. She did the drawings in calligraphy pen ink and they're kind of rough because it was her 1st.
So it's about a 17 year old girl named Aki who finds a magic bike while cleaning out the garage. She touches it and becomes Biker Girl. Her grandpa says it's her destiny. She's off to fight crime and save the day. She races the biker gang that caused her cousin's death and she wins. She finds out that the new leader of the gang is actually her brother. She also falls in love with her best guy friend, Kai. That's about it. It's quite short, didn't even take me and hour to read.

The Iron King-Julie Kagawa

When strange things occur on her sixteenth birthday, Meghan Chase finds out that her best friend Robbie isn't who she thinks he is and that faeries exist. Robbie turns out to Robin Goodfellow a.k.a. Puck (like from A Midsummer Night's Dream). After school she goes home to see her mother on the floor and her brother turned evil, replaced by a changeling. Her mother's fine, though that doesn't mean all is right. Meghan and Puck go to Faeryland to get her brother back. Along the way she meets a cat (or a cait sith) named Grimalkin, who can talk. The cat leads her to the Seelie court after she was ditched by Puck. There she finds out that she is Oberon's daughter, a half-breed fey. During Elysium she meets (again) the youngest prince of the Unseelie Court, Ash. He has an oath to kill Puck. All lot of stuff happens after that so I will just list now.
-Meghan's elfish aspects show.
-The go to the Winter (Unseelie) Court and are in a manor and Puck lets Meghan try some kind of fruit that makes her drunk.
-Meghan and Grim go to a club in Detroit because a trod is in it.
-Meghan gives up a memory to get info from an Oracle in New Orleans (She lives in Louisiana too)
-Meghan and Puck (who's hurt) and Ash go to meet some dryads in some park and get the special wood that could kill the Iron King who kidnapped her brother.
-They get attack by an Iron fey named Virus.
-They go to the Iron Court, which is like a wasteland of technology.
I'm not even going to go on. So much happen in this book, I can't remember how it did. Anyway, Robbie/Puck is so funny. I like him. Ash is okay.
I love the cover, don't you?

Evernight-Claudia Gray

Bianca, a shy 16-year old girl, has to start school at Evernight boarding school because her parents are becoming teachers there. She meets Lucas on orientation day and she feels comfortable with him. She really likes him and they get together and break apart a few times. She ends up going to the Autumn ball with Balthazar instead. Lucas shows up and Bianca kinda bites him...the first time she ever tastes human blood. It was 140 pages into the story and we finally find out that she's a born vampire, and I though Lucas was the vamp. Anyways, she's in trouble for it and there's a whole side story of Raquel, Bianca human friend, being stalked by the vamp Erich. Bianca confronts Erich and Lucas sees and Bianca confesses her vampire-ness to Lucas via email. We later find out that Lucas harbor a secret too-he's a vampire hunter, part of the Black Cross. Will their love survive, I mean, c'mon! Oh, and Bianca bit Lucas twice so now he has some vampire powers.
And also, Patrice is Bianca's roommate. The author wrote a short story about her in this other book I have.
I'm gonna read Stargazer, the sequel.

Emily Windsnap and the Siren's Secret-Liz Kessler

Emily's life is finally perfect on Allpoints Island, but she feels like something's missing. She's home-sick. After finding out from Archie that Shiprock is under distress, Emily, her mom, Mr. Beeston, Aaron and his mom, and Millie all go to Emily's hometown, Brightport. Shona and her family return to Shiprock (the mermaid town near Brightport) Aaron and Emily get in trouble on their first day at Shiprock's mermaid school because the principle finds out they're semi-mers.
Also, Mandy doesn't remember ever being Emily's friend, but Emily and Aaron somehow break the memory drug's spell by holding hands and she remembers.
Shona and Emily go out in search for some lost sirens and Emily gets pulled by a current into a well and meets the old lost sirens. They're not very nice and think that the can get out only by a siren's song and since they lost their singing voices, they need another siren to help them. Shona finds the cave and her singing doesn't help. Aaron finds Emily and they break the curse, but only so they can get through. They take conch shell the best siren, Melody. They find the map inside of it of some deserted island. Mr. Beeston finds out about all this and goes to the cave. Melody just so happens to be his mother. Emily and Aaron go to Neptune and ask for him to break the curse for them all and let the sirens out. He does it under the conditions that Emily and the others up their efforts on stopping Brightport's development that's ruining Shiprock and also Neptune takes Emily and Aaron's power to undo his own power away. They ask Melody for help and she agrees. Before, Millie brought Emily's grandparents into town. They had been memory drugged and now they got the back and the drug's magic is gone. So now Emily's grandparents remember. There's a nice happy ending and I wouldn't want to spoil that too, but I like this series. It's probably my favorite Juvenile series, but I don't read many anymore. The mermaid phrases are pretty cute and I think that 12 year old Emily Windsnap seems more mature now that she's falling in love with Aaron. I wonder if this story is British or American. It's Mom not mum, and it uses dollars and not pounds, so I think that Liz Kessler made this more American based despite living in England.

Radiant Shadows-Melissa Marr

Ani is a hound halfling with a hunger for both emotion and touch. This, as well as being able to feed off of both mortal and fey, makes her abnormal. Irial, Gabriel and Rabbit are all protective of her but know that she is very strong herself.

Devlin is the Bloodied Hands of the High Queen, he's her assassin. He was the 1st male fey, created by both Sorcha and Bananach, brother to both. Years ago Sorcha sent him to kill Ani, but Rae, a spectral mortal he met over a hundred years ago, convinced him not to.

When Ani and Devlin meet in a club, Ani kisses him and feeds herself. He feels drained and wonders what she is. Eventually he's falling in love with free spirited Ani and here are some highlights of this book:

-Rae, the spectral girl, she can walk in dreams of others.

-Sorcha, Bananach and Devlin can only see the futures of those not tied to them.

-Seth can see the future as a fey in the Mortal world.

-Irial's been doing experiments on Ani's blood, seeing if it can help the Dark court.

-Ani gets a steed! She names it Barry for Barracuda. I thought it was cool.

-The High Court's queen Sorcha kinda unbalenced now. The Unchanging Queen has changed.

-Ani & Devlin take Barry across the country for Ani's safety and when they stop at a rest stop, it's funny when Devlin almost walks into the girl's room. Ani tells the other lady in there that Dev's just shaken up cuz he's sensitive. lol

-Ani & Dev stay in a hotel for a night.

-Sorcha asks Rae to walk into some artists dreams.

-Faerie falls apart while Sorcha's sleeps to dream about her "son" Seth.

-Dev & Ani save faerie by bring Seth to wake the queen.

-Devlin & Ani start the Shadow Court!

That's about all I can think of. I had a hard time reading it because it's in 3rd person. I just have a short attention span when it comes to boring books. I'll give it at least 1 star, though for the funny parts.

Whiteout-Walter Sorrells

This is the 3rd book in the Hunted series. The 1st is Fake I.D. and the 2nd is Club Dread.
Chass and her mom move to Greensville, Minnisota. After a month of being there and Whiteout storm happens, making everything a Winter World. Chass finds Ms. Hill's body in the snow with a shot in the head. She was the music teacher, an old lady, and Chass wondered who would do this to a nice lady. She sees a man, the killer most likely. When she tells her mom, her mother wants to leave. Chass gets mad and walks out into the storm. She goes to the police station and the chief helps her a bit, but then he's going crazy about the wolves. Chass hotwires a snowmobile and wrecks it. She goes home again and her mom's still not there. Katie shows up at her house. There's someone at the door and they freak out. It's Fabe from California. I can tell you a few more key events:
-Her mom gets shot after going out with Chass's hat on
-The girls get in trouble for breaking into Ms. Hill's house
-The high school is set on fire and Katie tries to save instrument while Chass looks for evidence
-We find out that Kyle Van Epps was from this town
-Kyle had a brother, Cale
-Cale was deformed. He's in the loony bin.
-Elliot used to go get Cale in secrecy and drive him to Ms. Hill's home to record and make songs.
-Cale is a rich song writer, but Kyle gets all the money.
-Chass goes back to Ms. Hill's and into her basement and is locked in as it burns. She gets out barely.
Too much happens. It's a good book and a mystery, so I'm not gonna tell you the killer. Is is Kyle, Cale, Elliot, Elliot's Dad, Mr. Osmund or some other person? Read and find out!

Firespell-Chloe Neill

Lily Parker's parents send her to St. Sophia's boarding school in Chicago when they leave for Germany on a sabbatical. The school is pretty strange and so is her roommate, Scout. Scout disappears a lot at night and Lily wants to know what's going on. She find out that nothing is what it seems. Scout is a part of a group of magic users that want to protect Chicagoans from the psychic-energy stealing Reapers. Lily doesn't have a power so the elders of the Adepts don't let her join, but after being hit with firespell a darkening appears on Lily's back. She does have a power. Firespell.
Lily also finds out that her parent have been lying about their jobs. They aren't really philosophy professors, but geneticist, though they don't know that she knows.
Lily and the other Adepts have a fight against the Reapers and I will not spoil the rest. This is the 1st Dark Elite novel. I loved it because it was set in Chicago. Scout and Lily are pretty funny together. Jason sounds really hot. He's Lily's crush and he's a werewolf. I recommend this yummy series.

Thirst No. 2-Christopher Pike

I love this book series. It's so easy to read. It's non-stop action and it has a ton of twists. I highly recommend it to all the vampire fans out there.
Sita's story continues in these three books: SPOILER ALERT!
In Phantom, after Sita becomes human again, Ray comes back from the dead and he and Sita move into a house together. Sita becomes pregnant with her daughter. She meets Paula, another pregnant girl. Sita is only pregnant for about 2 months in all, the growth of the baby is accelerating. When her daughter is born violently, she is name Kalika, she who destroys. Kalika is part vampire and needs blood, so Sita regretfully tricks a boy into coming home with her. His blood feeds Kalika. Kalika is fully grown within a couple week, looking about 20 years old. She is the incarnation of Kali Ma. She wants to see Paula's baby once he is born. Paula runs with the baby soon after. Sita uses some of the baby's blood with Yaksha's too make her a vampire again. She faces her daughter and Seymour is stabbed. Sita heals him with the rest of the baby's blood she had from the hospital.
In Evil Thirst, Sita meets Dr. Seter and James. They have a scripture that Suzama, an old friend of Sita's from Egypt and she could see the future, wrote and Sita wants to see it. It mentions that Krishna, Jesus and this baby all have the same soul. It mentions the Dark Mother, Kali Ma. Kalika is still after the baby and they all end up at Lake Tahoe. Sita finds out who James (Ory) really is only after her daughter is fatally injured.
In Creatures of Forever, Sita finds out that some aliens from another dimension have her blood. They are the Setian for back in Egypt, lizard beings. Alanda, an old friend of Sita that she doesn't remember assists Sita in going back in time only in soul to stop Landolf from ever getting her blood. She goes back to when she saves Dante whose a leper. She plays out what happened as it should until the confrontation, where she kills Landolf only to find out Dante is the real Landolf. She doesn't give him her blood.
In the end, Sita goes back to when Yaksha was born and stabs his infant body.
She has changed her path. She will not become a vampire. So, how come there's a Thirst No. 3 if there are no vampire anymore?

SPOILER ALERT: She finds out that Catcher's one of the extremely rare Immunes because after a week of being infected he hasn't died and Returned. Gabry (short for Gabrielle) also finds out that Mary's not really her mother, that she was found in the Forest. Mary leaves to go back to her village and Gabry covers for her. Eventually, she, Cira, Catcher, and Elias escape into the Forest for refuge and find the village. Mary and Harry are there and Gabry finds out who she really is. Annah is her sister. Her twin. Gabry is one of Jacob's daughters: Abigail.
They all leave the village being chased by the Recruiters and I won't spoil the ending anymore.
I did like this book. It was cooler than the first. I love zombie stories.

Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception-Maggie Stiefvater

Deirdre Monaghan, a teen harpist, meets Luke Dillon at a music competition. Luke was the guy from her dream and it's weird to meet him in real life. Dee best friend's name is James and he plays bag pipes. He tells her that he's psychic later on. Luke's pretty cryptic and Dee falls in love with him over the next few summer day after her birthday. She's starts to get mixed up in the faerie world as she runs into fey creature and a freckle face faerie man. Dee's Granna gave her an iron ring, and Luke gave her an iron key for protection. It's mentioned many times that Deirdre is incredibly talented in music as well as in her newly found telekinetic ability. She's a cloverhand after all (and she always find four leaf clovers, but doesn't really need them anymore. She can see faeries all by herself). There's a lot of twists and turn I don't want to spoil or maybe I'm just too lazy to type them.

I liked this book though I couldn't pay much attention to it. It took me only 2 days to read and it's 325 pages long. There is a sequel called Ballad. I better look out for that.

The Reckoning-Kelley Armstrong

I love this book series: Darkest Powers. I love the whole kids-with-powers-on-the-run-from-evil-scientist theme. I recommend this to anyone who loves supernatural fiction and a good ghost story or horror flick.
*SPOILER ALERT*
Chloe Saunders is a 15-year-old necromancer. She's on the run with her friends from an evil corporation know as the Edison Group. They meet up with Andrew, an old friend of Simon's dad. They are staying in a big house with his that used to be owned b the founder of the resistance against the Group. Andrew brings in a few Supernaturals who can help train them. Margaret is a necromancer that could pass for Chloe's grandmother (since Chloe temporarily dyed her hair black in the last book). Gwen is a witch who is very nice and young looking. Russel's a shaman who knows quite a bit about werewolves. After Margaret bring Chloe to a cemetery for training and asks Chloe to summon, Chloe accidentally opens a hole in the ground and the dead begin to rise. She realizes the Chloe is much more of a threat than they thought.
Chloe has feelings for Derek and Simon's a bit jealous. Chloe help Derek through his complete change into a wolf and they are attacked by Ramon and Liam.
After going though Margaret's deleted files, Tori finds out something very important. Andrew and Margaret are in on the whole thing. Andrew's trying to send Derek to the Pack. No one can be trusted and Tori looks through Andrew's files before they all decide to escape. The escape plan fail when a few other Supernatural show up. Chloe tries to create a diversion and find out that there are men securing the area. Back in the house, Margaret kills Gwen and then Chloe witnesses her killing Andrew. Chloe and Tori wind up back at the labs and Chloe calls a demi-demon to help rescue her Aunt and her friends. Later Tori's mom is killed and raised, instructed to kill Dr. Davidoff by Chloe. Kit (Simon's dad) shows up. They all go on the run again. The end!

Poplit Journal:

How would you feel if you were a genetically altered supernatural being on the run from evil scientists who want you dead so they can correct their mistake of ever making you? Chloe Saunders is afraid. She can’t trust anyone except Derek, Simon and Tori who are a werewolf, a sorcerer and a witch. Chloe’s a necromancer who’s been altered to be much more powerful than any necro has ever been. At any second she can accidentally raise the dead just by summoning. Most necromancers have to have special herbs just to summon a ghost, but Chloe apparently doesn’t need any of that. According to a ghost, her glow is very bright so she attracts ghosts easily. The only thing keeping her glow down to a normal necro’s glow is the amulet her mom gave her when she was little, but sadly, is doesn’t stop her from accidentally bringing dead animal back into their carcasses when she gets jumpy and nervous.

Tori is a witch and probably half sorcerer too. She’s Simon’s half sister, though she doesn’t know it. She’s very brave, bold and sarcastic. She can hack a computer as well as kick butt. She can do spells without any practice or cantations. All she has to do is see a spell caster do a spell and she can mimic it. She can do binding spells, energy balls and a few other helpful things so far, but she’s learning fast.

Derek is a werewolf and the brother that Chloe truly likes. He’s extremely protective and a bit anti-social. He’s strong and fast and he finally completes his change into a black wolf in this book. He used to be very bitey and rude, mean to Chloe, but only for her own protection. He’s also very smart. He’s good at math and science and he’s always logical. I’m a bit confused why Chloe likes him so much, but I guess once he turned into a wolf and she realized that he wasn’t a monster, but just an alpha kind of guy, she realized that she did love him. He brought heat to her heart.

Simon who’s Derek’s “brother” is a sorcerer. He’s not very powerful like the others, but maybe that’s because he wasn’t part of the experiments. He’s just a normal, young sorcerer. He’s very nice to Chloe and he has a crush on her too, so he was jealous when he realized that Chloe liked Derek. He’s half Korean and likes to draw comics, which I think is cool. He and Chloe were working on a graphic novel of their adventures. Simon is diabetic and a feel sorry for him that he’s on the run with them and has to check his blood sugar all the time. It just seems very inconvenient, but he’ll be fine.

Uninvited-Amanda Marrone

Jordan Malone's a high school student on Long Island with a vampire ex-boyfriend (Michael) stalking her. He torments her every night by talking to her through the window, asking her to let him in. Jordan knows that is she invites him in, he could kill her or worse-turn her into a vampire.
Jordan's a troubled teen who gets trashed and smokes pot. Her friends are so weird: Rachael, Gabby and Janine. It's all party, sex and drugs to them. Lisa returns from "rehab" and she doesn't really talk to her much. Jordan goes to a party for the 1st time in a long time and sees Michael there (her first time actually seeing him) and freaks and gets the heck out of there. Lisa's at her house and knows about Michael. The ending is the best part...Lisa's gonna get turned and Jordan finds out that Michael never really loved her. She has kill him and save an old friend.
It was really weird at first, but then near the end it was good. I read it with 2 other guys for pop lit. It's only 204 pages long. Note to self: check out Amanda Marrone's other book: The Revealers

Captivate-Carrie Jones

Zara White and her friends have just discovered pixies existed and are protecting the town by trapping them in a iron surrounded house. Zara found out she was half pixie in the last book, Need, and that her father is the pixie king.
Zara saves a pixie named Astley from being taken by a Valkyrie to Valhalla, who turns out to be another pixie king. He's much nicer than any pixie she's meet (because all pixie she's met are bad ones). Zara's skin changes blue (the true color of a pixie's skin; they also have sharp teeth and silver eyes) whenever he's around, her reaction to him.
When a 3rd pixie king shows up and lets the other pixies lose, the take revenge on Zara's werewolf boyfriend, Nick. A Valkyrie takes him away and Zara has to figure out how to save him. She asks Astley to kiss her and change her into a full pixie so she may enter Valhalla.
Issie is her human bff. Devyn's Issie's beau and he's a were-eagle. Zara's step-grandma, Betty, is a weretiger. Cassidy is....can't tell you. Mrs. Nix is a werebear.
I really like this series. Zara's obsession with phobias is funny. I like how bubbly she is in the 1st part of the book. It's really written all funny-like and it's made of awesomeness. See? Now I'm talking like them!

Beautiful Creatures-Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

This book is about a guy named Ethan Wate who lives in Gatlin, South Carolina, a small town that was part of the Civil War. Ethan meets Lena Duchannes (pronounced Du-chain) who is Macon Ravenwood's niece. Macon's the town shut-out, so they all think that Lena is crazy like him. Lena accidentally breaks the window in their English class and the cheerleader start bs-ing that she broke it with something and that she's violent and that they were hurt by it. Ethan and Lena has a psychic connection and they came telepathically communicate. Ethan goes to Ravenwood manor and finds Lena. The find a locket that sends them vision of the past. Ethan sees Macon for the first time and he's pretty cool, but when they have dinner he seems to have strange powers too. Ethan finds out that Lena's a Caster, which is sorta like a witch. He finds out that on her sixteenth birthday she could turn Dark and forget about him. They spend their days before Feb 11th figuring out how to stop her Claiming.
There's a ton more that happens in this book. I'll tell you about the characters beside Ethan and Lena and Macon. Link, whose mom is head of the DAR (like a pta), is Ethan's best friend. Emily, a cheerleader who hates Ethan, Savannah Snow, who he dated once. . Amma is Ethan's house keeper who does Voo-doo. Ethan's dad is a writer, and his wife, Ethan's mom, Lila died so he's a bit crazy and a shut-in now. There's the Sisters, Ethan's crazy great aunts. Lena's family's even crazier: Ridley's a Dark Caster and a Siren. Reece is a Light Caster and a Sybil. Ryan's....a healer? Larkin's a shifter, and Aunt Del can see through time. Boo Radley's Macon's wolf-dog. That's about it. I enjoyed it and wonder is there's a sequel. Have fun! Go read!

The Immortal Realm-Frewin Jones

This is the 4th book of The Faerie Path series. Tania tries to bring the Mortal and Immortal Realms together by letting her mortal parents come to a Faerie wedding. A baby gets sick and dies after the wedding and since that hasn't happened in thousands of years in Faerie, they set the blame on Tania since she brought her sick mortal father there. The sick are put in the Gildensleep and a "Healer" from Alba comes to help, but really he's a fake and starts blaming Tania, so Tania might be banished for eternity because of his act. Tania brings Conner from London and he's a med student but he fails to cure Cordelia. Eden says that the sickness isn't mortal so Tania, Rathina and Conner set out on a quest to find the Lost Caer. They must find out where it is from a forbidden hall of records and then go to the Lost Caer and find out how to stop the plague and save Faerie from the devastation.
BEST. FAERIE PATH. BOOK. YET!!!!!!!! I read it in less than 2 days and it's 341 pages long. Rathina's pretty funny. I think it would be awesome for her to pair up with Conner. Can't wait to read The Enchanted Quest.

This World We Live In-Susan Beth Pfeffer

This is the third book of The Last Survivors series, and the last. In Life As We Knew It, Miranda Even from Howell, PN wrote about her family's survival after an asteroid knocked the moon closer to the Earth in her diary. In The Dead and the Gone, we saw how Alex Morales and his sisters survived after it in New York. Now we're back to Miranda's diary and the weather changing. It's raining once again, finally. It's been about a year since it happened, and they're getting food once a week, rationing it. Matt and Jon travel to the river to catch some shad fish. Matt marries some girl her just met, Syl. Dad and Lisa come back with their baby, Gabriel as well as three other people: Alex, Julie and Charlie. Miranda starts to fall for Alex, but Alex has to leave soon for Julie's safety.
I love this series. It's so amazing. Survival stories with a sci-fi edge are just......amazing.

Vampire Diaries The Return 2: Shadow Souls-LJ Smith

This 599 page book is the 6th Vampire Diaries novel. Elena, Damon, Bonnie and Meridith travel to the Dark Realm to rescue Stefan. They have to find both halves of the kitsune(Fox Demon) key which Misao and Shinichi hid, but Misao gave away clues. Damon pretends to be the master of 3 slaves, Elena and her friends.
All I can say is that it's a long complicated plot that I can't remember every detail to, but I recommend it to vamp lovers. The books are better than the TV show, trust me. Even though they gave me eye strain...they should be easy to read. I'm just tired. I heart Damon. :P

Fang-James Patterson

One word: Fangtastic!
Of course, the whole series is amazing (except the 4th book, The Final Warning)
So, where should I start?
The Flock go to Africa on a CMS mission. Angel predicts that Fang will be the first to die. They meet the mad-scientist Dr. G-H there. They also meet one of his creations, Dylan, the new bird kid and Max's "perfect other half" blah blah blah...Voice you suck. Dr. Chu is also there and he's probably helping with the Dr.'s experiments.
The Flock go back to their new house and Max attempts to home school the Flock and Dylan & Jeb show up and the house is attacked and Angel makes everyone vote Max off the island and Max and Fang end up in Los Vegas and the rest of the Flock go to Hollywood. Angel, the new leader (evil kid) is gonna make them have fame and fourtune. I swear if I go on anymore I will spoil EVERYTHING. I loved it too much.
So here:
Pop Lit Journal:

(A Journal Entry by Max or a fanfic by Haley—SPOILER ALERT!!!)

Dear Diary…um…I mean Journal. (Diary sounds too sappy.)

I don’t want Fang to die, and I’m glad he didn’t. I just wish he didn’t leave me. I mean, he said it was so I could be my best “leaderness.” Dr. G-H and the Voice…They’re both wrong. I need Fang. I love Fang. Without him…I don’t know. I just hope that he’ll come back. Dylan sacrificed himself for us, and it’s hard to believe, even harder than believe that he was my “perfect other half.” Maybe he was. I’m sick of the Voice and fanatical white coats telling me things I don’t want to hear. As cheesy as it sounds, Fang is my one true love. I just know it. I grew up with him. He used to make fun of the white coats while he was trapped in the dog crate next to mine. We would laugh together despite our situation.

But, life must go on. I’m the Flock’s leader once again, and I must make tough choices and sacrifices for the ones I love to survive. If that means never seeing Fang again, I guess I’ll have to deal with it. If Dr. Goony-Loony is right, and the Apocalypse is really coming, then we will do what we have to do to survive. Note to self: Doing what we have to do to survive does not include injecting miracle reactants created by mad scientists.

Other than Fang leaving and then almost dying and then leaving for good, the past few weeks have been completely ludicrous. We went to Africa where Mr. Chu disappeared into a tent and Jeanne healed herself. Then we met Dr. God (My favorite nickname for Dr. G-H.) and Angel predicted that Fang was going to be the first to die and then Dylan came a long and ruined everything. Then we came back home and I attempted to educate the Flock. Angel made everyone except Fang vote me off as flock leader and then she took over and dragged them all to Hollywood while me and Fang flew off to Los Vegas. When we came to find them in Hollywood, their skin was more blemished that a teenage troll. It was disgusting to know that Dr. G-H’s reactant caused that. And then Angel. I swear she is grounded for life! (Since I’m the leader and I say so!) She pointed a gun at me, threatened to kill me! Hello? What happened to the sweet Angel I used to know. She’s over seven and she wants to overtake my awesomeness. I guess maybe they Flock’s just growing up. But…I truly hope Fang does come back so we can be together.

Token of Darkness-Amelia Atwater-Rhodes

Ever since the eight-car pile up that Cooper was in, he has been haunted by a color coordinationally challenged ghost of a teenage girl. He also can see shadows and can push people out of their body. Samantha (the "ghost" that can't remember he past) wants to be alive. Cooper goes to the library to see if he can figure out how to help her. There he meets Brent. Brent can read minds and he dated Delilah who was a friend of Cooper. Delilah practices sorcery. Brent takes Cooper to Ryan le Coire, a very powerful sorcerer who may be able to help him. Delilah figures out that Samantha is a water elemental with no idea of what she is. Delilah ends up in the hospital after almost drowning because she tried to exchange mortality with Samantha. There's a bit of a body mix up and the ending, I cannot say.
Honestly, one of the funniest and most exciting books by this author. It's only 197 pages long and I read it in one day. I really loved it and recommend it. It's supernaturally awesome!

Vampire Kisses 2: Kissing Coffins-Ellen Schreiber

Raven has to find Alexander. He left without a word. Now she's sure he's a vampire, but does she want to be a vampire anymore? Not yet. After finding out that Jameson called from the Coffin Club, Raven goes to Hipsterville to find him and Alexander, but they're not there. She meets Jagger, whom she finds out is a vampire too. Raven goes back to Alexander's mansion and she finds them and Alexander and Jagger fight. Jagger is scared off only after at temping to bite Raven. Alexander and Jagger later fight at the Drive-In. This book is also a very short, funny read. Only 165 pages long. I started it this morning and am done. I guess I'll check out the rest of the series.
I totally recommend it! :)

Betrayals-Lili St. Crow

This is the second book in the Strange Angels series.
Dru Anderson is sent to the Schola for her own protection after she finds out about her djamphir (half vampire) heritage. The Schola is an all-boys training facility which makes Dru feel like an outsider. She's not allowed outside of the school, but she does escape a few times. Christophe come back, which makes her feel a bit better, but then she finds out that there's a traitor in the Order and Christophe is a suspect. Graves (the Goth-Boy turned skin changer) is making friends with werwulfen.
The schola is attacked twice, the second time a Burner sets it on fire. Dru, Graves, Christophe and a few other werwulfen escape and set of for another safe place. Dru's in danger and no one can be trusted.

I recommend this series to fans of Vampire Academy or Maximum Ride. But, beware of the small text on each page. It's not very easy to read, but I got through it and still like the characters. Dru is a cool, tough character.

Pop Lit Journal:

Dru and Graves and even Christophe have their own saying or “catch phrases”. Things they seem to say repeatedly that make it easy to distinguish who’s saying what when dialog doesn’t include “I said” or “he said.” Dru has her saying in her thought too, of course, because this novel is written in first person. Since Dru grew up in Florida, she has some very southern saying that she picked up from her Gran or dad. She swears a lot, but I won’t go into that. Whenever she’s desperate she thinks “oh, God” or “Jesus.” Whenever something seems too make sense, she thinks, “go figure.” Twice in the same paragraph she described how male werwulfen and male djamphirs will change at “the drop of a hat.” Her father or Gran’s voice would always come to her mind with advice or their own little sayings they used to say to Dru. She also has a lot of thoughts about how she doesn’t like being told what to do or thoughts how she doesn’t want to ruin her tough-girl image. Out of all the books I’ve read, this series has had the most italicized thoughts from the main character I’ve ever seen. Some of the things she says a lot sarcastically are “gee, thanks” and “peachy.” She’s a very stubborn and sarcastic character.
Graves (Goth Boy turned Skin-changer) has his own little phrases. “First one’s free,” is like his motto or something. In Strange Angels he said it like twenty -something times, in this book only about three times. He’s very generous, especially to Dru. He obviously likes her even though she kind of ruined the life he had before they came to the Schola. He said he liked the Schola better, anyways. At least they feed him there. He’s a really nice, smart guy even though he smokes and he’s Goth. He is pretty much Dru’s best friend now, and has potential to be her boyfriend too. Whenever something’s wrong he says, “Christ” or even “Jesus.”
Christophe has the tendency to say things in what I think is Russian. I seriously wish the author put a glossary in the back of this book so I knew what Christophe was calling Dru half the time. He calls Dru his “little bird” in English and possibly in Russian. Since Christophe is older than he looks since he is half vampire, I was able to tell his age from the way he spoke. He sounded like he must be about a hundred years old since he spoke like an old man or like an old-time romantic. Dru didn’t realize he was so old, but I thought it was sort of obvious. How would a teen know so much about her mother?

~*Haley*

P.S. I HAD TO RETYPE THIS DARN THING BECAUSE MY INTERNET FAILED LAST NIGHT!!! I HATE COMCAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
